This Week in Trailers VII

It’s a pretty good week for trailers, two good looking “indie” films beside two big blockbusters. First up we have “The Rocker” starring Rainn Wilson, “The Promotion” which costars another “Office” member, a teaser for the ridiculously high profile and super hyped movie “Twilight”, and finally the amazing second trailer for “The Dark Knight” which aired in front of Iron Man.

The Rocker

I’m a huge Rainn Wilson fan, the guy is pretty much comedy gold in everything he does (The Office is an obvious example but his “casting videos” for famous indie films were hilarious as well) and this movie looks like an awesome vehicle for him. I admit that the trailer occasionally made me cringe at the cheesiness but overall it looks like a pretty funny movie.

The Promotion

I never used to like Sean William Scott but he’s been surprising me lately; first Southland Tales and now this. It’s promising looking, though I never really laughed that hard at any point. It has potential but if the rest of the movie is exactly like the trailer than it may not actually be that great. We’ll have to wait and see how this one pans out.

Twilight

I have never heard of this movie but I guess it’s based on a series of books that are pretty widely loved. I read that they bumped one of the Harry Potter books off the top spot or something. With that in mind, this movie looks horrible. This trailer in no way makes me want to see the movie so I’ll most likely steer clear of this release.

The Dark Knight

Dark Knight on the other hand looks absolutely amazing. This trailer showed exactly what was missing from the first trailer (Two-Face and more Joker dialog) without ever showing enough to spoil anything. We get just a half sort of view of Two-Face himself but the scar side is still very much a mystery. The one thing I was disappointed about was the seemingly slower pace. Where the first trailer had me holding my breath, edge of my seat, this trailer was great but not near as exciting. But it is still my most looked forward to film of the year.
