This Week in Trailers V

Warning this issue features a movie with a name that some may find offensive.

It’s been a decent week as far as trailers go, with a new extended trailer for Hancock, a teaser for The Spirit, the official trailer for War Inc., trailer for Young People Fucking, and the trailer for College. I’d say all in all it’s been an above average week for trailers and I’m looking forward to at least 3 of these movies.

The Spirit

I am oddly enough not looking forward to this movie. I know nothing about the comics it was based on so that may be a factor but the main problem I have is that it looks so much like Sin City. I liked Sin City when it came out, it was great looking and pretty innovative at the time but I don’t really want to see this overused. Maybe once a full trailer comes out I’ll change my mind.

Hancock

This is the second trailer that I’ve seen for this movie and while I was looking forward to this film before, this trailer only increased my excitement. This movie looks amazing; finally we’re going to see a super hero movie where the hero is tired of the job, doesn’t do it for the “greater good” and is all around more like a hobo than a super hero.

War Inc.

This looks pretty decent, I’m a fan of John Cusack and the plot looks pretty cool in a satirical over the top sort of way. I didn’t even recognize Hillary Duff at first and I’m sort of disappointed that they pointed her out since now the character looks different to me, and not in a good way. And even though the plot is kinda cool and I like John Cusack, the whole trailer didn’t really pop to me. It just didn’t feel right. However I will reserve judgment like always.

Young People Fucking

I debated whether or not to actually write this film’s name as is or to censor it; but I ended up going with it since it is actually what the movie is called. As for the trailer it looks pretty decent, the “High Five” couple look hilarious and the rest seem good enough to warrant a watch. I’ll be checking this one out, though I kind of wish they had a less intense name since I think they’ll be alienating a fair portion of their audience with this.

College

This movie just looks bad. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve become spoiled by all of the awesome Judd Apatow comedies of late, or if it’s the fact that it’s a green band trailer for what I assume is a hard “R” film, but at no point during this trailer did I really think I would enjoy this movie.

One Response to “This Week in Trailers V”

  1. Good job on getting these trailers up – I hadnt seen the war inc or Spirit trailers yet. The Spirit is based on a comic by Will Eisner that was running during the 50’s ( I think) up until the 70’s (again just a guess) which visually was a huge influence on comic creators like Frank Miller. I agree with you about Hancock, the latest trailer has sold me on the film. Definitely will see it now.
